Botany
A Giant Pumpkin
← All Exhibits
A pumpkin is a fruit, and botanically a kind of berry, grown from a single flower.
Pumpkin vines have separate male and female flowers. Bees carry pollen between them; only then can the female flower swell into a pumpkin like this one, packed with seeds.
Guess how heavy it is. How many small pumpkins would it take to match it?
