Terms of Use
By using this website you agree to these terms. They’re here to keep the site useful and fair for everyone.
Bookings
Sending a booking form is a request, not a confirmed visit. We’ll call you to arrange it, and your visit is confirmed once we receive payment. Prices, opening hours, and workshop details on the website can change; what we tell you when we confirm your visit is what applies. If you need to cancel, please let us know at least 2 days before your visit.
Please give us real details in the forms, and don’t use them to send advertising or anything unrelated to a visit.
Using our pages and activities
The text, photos, illustrations, demos, and games on this website are made by Science Playground unless a page says otherwise, and they remain ours. You’re welcome to use them for learning, at home or in class, including showing them to students, and to link to any page. Teachers and parents may print the worksheets, answer keys, and model papers as many times as they need for their own students, free of charge. Please ask us before copying any of it onto another website, into a printed book or guide, or into anything sold.
Our explanations are written for children and simplified on purpose. We check them carefully, but if you find a mistake, please tell us. If you try a science activity at home, an adult should be there to help.
Textbooks, model papers, and worksheets
Science, Explained follows the Grade 8–10 textbooks of Nepal’s Curriculum Development Centre (CDC), but it is our own explanation of them. Science Playground is not part of CDC, the National Examinations Board, or the Ministry of Education, and these pages are not official. The textbooks themselves belong to CDC.
The SEE model papers are practice papers we wrote following CDC’s specification grid. They are not real or leaked exam papers, and they don’t predict what will be asked. Their model answers and marking schemes are our guide; in the exam, the board’s own marking decides. When the curriculum, the grid, or the textbooks change, follow the official versions and your teacher, and please tell us so we can update ours.
Health and safety
Pages about the body, medicines, diseases, and chemicals (in the textbooks, the Periodic Table’s element pages, and the Nobel Prize pages) are there to explain the science, not to give medical advice. For your own health, ask a doctor or health worker. Don’t try experiments with dangerous chemicals, fire, electricity, or radiation that a page only describes.
Content from others
Some content belongs to others and is used under their terms: photos and data from other sources are credited where they appear and on our Credits page. Night Sky is our version of Stellarium Web Engine, free software under the GNU Affero General Public License version 3; its source code is linked from the app.
Links to other websites (in Learn, Also Visit, and elsewhere) are there because we find them useful, but those sites aren’t ours and we can’t answer for what they contain.
No guarantee
We work to keep the website correct and running, but we offer it as it is, without a guarantee that every page is free of mistakes or always available. As far as the law allows, Science Playground isn’t responsible for any loss from using the website or relying on what it says.
Staff accounts
The login on this website is for our staff. Please don’t try to sign in without an account we’ve given you, or to get around how the site works.
