Privacy Policy
In short: we collect only what you send us, use it only to arrange your visit or answer you, and never sell it or use it for advertising. The website counts page visits without cookies, and nothing about your visit goes to an analytics or advertising company.
What you send us
Our forms ask for:
- Book a Visit: your name, phone number, email (optional), the date and time you’d like, the number of visitors, and anything we should know.
- School visits: the school’s name and type, the contact teacher’s name, phone number and email (optional), the date, and the number of students in each grade. We don’t ask for students’ names.
- Workshop interest (teachers’ workshop and terrarium workshop): your name, phone number, email (optional), your school or grade, and how many people are coming.
- Contact form: your name, email, and message.
We use this to reply to you, arrange and confirm your visit, and call or message you about it (by phone or WhatsApp). The details are stored on our website’s server and in our backups, and each booking or sign-up is also emailed to our own inbox, so our email provider carries those messages. We don’t share them with anyone else, unless the law requires it.
Payment happens outside the website: after you book, we send you a QR code or bank details. The website never asks for card or bank details.
What the website records on its own
- Server logs. Like every website, ours notes each request it receives: your IP address, the page, the time, your browser, and the page that sent you here. We use these to keep the site running and safe (for example, to stop someone sending hundreds of forms), and they’re deleted after 14 days.
- Visit counts. Each page you open is counted, so we can see which exhibits and activities people read most, how many people visit, and which sites send them here. The counts are made on our own server, keep only a shortened IP address, and use no cookies.
Cookies and storage on your device
The website sets no cookies that track you. There’s a login cookie for our staff when they sign in to update the site, and one that remembers a choice you make: on Science and Math in Nepali, the grade whose words you want to see. It holds just that number.
Some games and activities remember your progress, such as the molecules you’ve made in Molecule Kitchen or your best scores. That’s kept in your own browser and never sent to us; clearing your browser’s data removes it.
The one exception is the word games, Nepali Words and English Vocabulary. Each answer (which word, whether it was right, the grade or list you chose and your level in the game) is sent to our server so that, over time, the game learns how hard each word really is and suits everyone better. It goes with a random number your browser makes up, not your name or anything else about you, and we use it for nothing else. If there’s no internet, the answers wait in your browser and go when it’s back. The English Grammar practice keeps your answers in your browser only.
Other companies whose content appears here
- The map on the Contact page is Google Maps, and videos in News are from YouTube (in its privacy-enhanced mode). When these load, Google receives your IP address and may set its own cookies.
- In Night Sky, choosing a place on the map uses OpenStreetMap, and an object’s summary comes from Wikipedia.
- Links to other websites (Google Maps directions, our Learn resources, and others) take you to sites with their own privacy policies.
Children
Our forms are for parents, teachers, and other adults, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from children through the website. Photos from school visits appear in News only with the school’s permission. If you’d like a photo of your child removed, write to us and we’ll take it down.
Your choices
You can ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by writing to info@science-playground.com or calling or messaging 9851111912. We keep booking and enquiry details only as long as we need them for your visit and our records.
If we change this policy, we’ll update this page and its date.
