Patterns from Straight Lines
← All Exhibits
Every design on this board is built from straight lines and simple shapes, yet spirals and curves appear.
Turn a square a little and draw it again, over and over, and a spiral emerges. The spiral of Theodorus is built from right triangles whose long sides measure √2, √3, √4, and so on. The Pythagoras tree grows from squares and right triangles.
Pick a pattern and find the one simple step that is repeated to make it.
