Optics
Rays of Light
← All Exhibits
Three laser beams show how light travels in straight lines until something changes its path.
Place a lens, a mirror, or a block in the beams and watch them bend (refract) or bounce (reflect). A convex lens brings the beams together at a point, the focus; a concave lens spreads them apart.
Put a lens in the beams. Can you find the spot where all three meet? Then try our interactive optics demos to move the light yourself: lenses, mirrors, prisms, and more.
