Ground Creepers

Creepers spread along the ground instead of climbing up. Their stems often root wherever they touch the soil, so one plant slowly becomes a carpet.

भुइँ ऐंसेलु

It creeps along the ground with runners that root as they go. Its fruit looks like a tiny strawberry but tastes of almost nothing; true strawberries have white flowers, and this one’s are yellow.

Aptenia cordifolia

A fleshy-leaved creeper from South Africa with small magenta flowers that open in sunshine. Its seed capsules open only when wet, so seeds are released when it rains.

Angelina Stonecrop

Sedum rupestre ‘Angelina’

Its needle-like golden leaves store water, so it can grow over rocks and walls where soil is thin. In cold weather the tips blush orange.

Fittonia
Ground Creeper

Fittonia

Fittonia albivenis

Fittonia thrives in low light close to the ground, with broad, thin leaves packed with chlorophyll to capture every scrap of filtered sunlight.
