Catch a Real Image
← All Exhibits
A concave mirror gathers light from an object and brings it together again, making a picture of the object in the air in front of it: a real image.
Put a screen in the right place and the image appears on it, upside down. Move the object and the image moves too. Telescopes and projectors use the same idea.
Slide the screen until the image is sharp. Is it upside down? Then try our interactive concave mirror and watch where the image forms as the object moves.
