Stopped: just dots.

Dots that walk
What are these dots?
A person walking. There are only thirteen dots, on the head, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles.
Why? Your brain is so used to watching people move that the way the dots swing is enough. Stop them, and they are a jumble again. Gunnar Johansson showed this in 1973, filming people with lights on their joints.
