The rules
- Short adjectives add -er and -est, and a final y becomes i: tall, taller, the tallest; easy, easier, the easiest.
- Longer adjectives use more and most instead: more useful, the most interesting.
- A few adjectives are irregular: good, better, best; bad, worse, worst; far, farther, farthest.
- Never put more or most in front of an -er or -est form: Everest is higher (not more higher) than K2.
- After a comparative use than, not then, and use as … as for things that are equal: This rope is as strong as that one.
- Say the same as and different from: My answer is different from yours.
- Compare like with like, using that of or those of: The climate of Nepal is cooler than that of India.
