Bonsai
Bonsai is the art of growing a tree in a small pot and shaping it by careful pruning and wiring, so it looks like an old tree in miniature. The plants are ordinary species, just kept small.
Ficus (Chinese Banyan)
समी
Ficus retusa
A favorite bonsai fig. This one grows from a swollen, twisted root base, sometimes sold as “ginseng ficus.” Its flowers are hidden inside the fig, and only one kind of tiny wasp can pollinate them.
Juniper Bonsai
धुपी
Juniperus sp.
Junipers are classic bonsai trees: their small, scale-like leaves and flexible branches are easy to shape. They are conifers, and their “berries” are really small cones.
Dwarf Jade
Portulacaria afra
Its thick trunk and tiny leaves make it an easy bonsai for beginners. It looks like a jade plant but belongs to a different family; in South Africa, elephants eat it, and it’s called elephant bush.

The garden is alive and changes through the year. Some plants flower, fruit, or rest only in certain seasons, so what you see depends on when you visit.
