Watch the orange circle. Does it grow and shrink?
No: it stays exactly the same size. Only the circles around it change.
Why? The Ebbinghaus illusion, set in motion: as the ring grows the middle circle seems to shrink, and the movement makes the effect much stronger. Ryan Mruczek, Christopher Blair, Lars Strother and Gideon Caplovitz’s version won the Best Illusion of the Year Contest in 2014; this is our drawing of it.
